Jana Chavous, APRN, began her education in Muskogee, Oklahoma, attending Connors State College and earning her associate degree in applied science. She then attended Northeastern State University in Muskogee to acquire a Bachelor of Science in nursing and Oklahoma State University in Tulsa to earn a Master of Science in healthcare administration. She finished out her formal education by attending Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts, to earn a Master of Science in nursing.
Chavous’ professional career began at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa as a staff and charge nurse in general surgery, urology and trauma. She then held the position of clinical resource nurse and care manager at the Cancer Treatment Center of America, also in Tulsa. While there, Chavous moved into the position of family nurse practitioner, delivering care to patients with various cancers and hematologic disorders. She is a distinguished graduate scholarship recipient at Oklahoma State University and a member of the Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society. She is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society, the Association of Oklahoma Nurse Practitioners, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the American Nursing Society for Pain Management.
