Our Affiliation with Stephenson Cancer Center
One of the unique aspects of Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute is our affiliation agreement with the Stephenson Cancer Center at The University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City.
This affiliation means cancer patients in Tulsa and northeastern Oklahoma have access to a larger number of National Cancer Institute-sponsored clinical oncology trials than ever before. These clinical trials provide patients and physicians new strategies for the early detection and treatment of cancer.
The Stephenson Cancer Center currently offers more than 300 clinical trials to test new treatment and detection strategies for all types of cancer. In addition, it offers clinical trials designed to evaluate new strategies for managing symptoms and enhancing quality of life. More than 1,300 cancer patients annually participate in these clinical trials. The Oklahoma TSET Phase I Program, housed at the Stephenson Cancer Center, provides patients who have failed standard line therapies with early access to the newest molecularly-targeted drugs.
Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute physicians have a long history of providing opportunities for Oklahomans to participate in cancer clinical trials. Through our affiliation with the Stephenson Cancer Center, an expanded array of National Cancer Institute-sponsored clinical trials is available to our patients. Patients can participate in these clinical trials while receiving treatment at a participating Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute location.
