This post is in regards to our URGENT COVID-19 MESSAGE and the guest and visitor restrictions it outlines.
We understand the frustration and the COVID fatigue that our patients and their families are experiencing. We know how hard our NO VISITOR POLICY can be as you deal with the difficulties of a cancer diagnosis and cancer treatment. We also know that, depending on the type of cancer you have, the death rate for oncology patients who contract COVID-19 can be as high as 20%. Every person who enters our building poses an additional risk for every patient and staff member.
Oklahoma is experiencing an unprecedented surge in the number of COVID cases in the state. That leaves us no other choice but to tighten our NO VISITOR policy.
Family members can join a visit “virtually” in real time via cell phone from our parking lot. Visitors will still be allowed, after passing screening, for a patient’s first visit with their physician and for their chemo teaching session.
The OCSRI COVID-19 task force will continue to monitor changes and adjust our policy as we can while keeping our patients safe.
Thank you,
OCSRI COVID-19 Task Force
