TULSA, OK – May 3, 2018 – Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute (OCSRI) once again received a three-year certification demonstrating our outpatient hematology-oncology services meet and even exceed nationally recognized high standards for quality and safety in cancer care. The certification is through the QOPI® Certification Program (QCP™), an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO®). QCP™ builds on ASCO’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®).
“The QOPI certification program helps OCSRI asses the quality of care our cancer therapy team provides, specifically within our hematology-oncology services,” said OCSRI CEO, Suanne Gersdorf. “Everyone at OCSRI is dedicated to providing high-quality care to our cancer patients and becoming certified demonstrates our team’s dedication to this mission.”
To receive certification, OCSRI voluntarily participated in a practice-wide evaluation of documentation standards and a comprehensive site assessment against clearly specified standards consistent with national guidelines as well as be successful in meeting the standards and objectives of the QOPI® Certification Program.
The QCP™ seal demonstrates that OCSRI not only scored above the threshold on the key QOPI® quality measures, but also met core chemotherapy safety standards established by ASCO and the Oncology Nursing Society. This includes the following areas of treatment:
- Creating a safe environment—staffing, competencies, and general policy

- Monitoring after chemotherapy is administered, including adherence, toxicity, and complications
