OCSRI is proud to share that we have achieved ASCO Certified status, a new certification from the Association for Clinical Oncology (ASCO) that highlights our commitment to patient-centered cancer care. This certification marks an important step for OCSRI, reinforcing our dedication to providing comprehensive care that meets national standards for quality and safety.
ASCO Certified is much more than a recognition; it reflects our ongoing efforts to deliver the best oncology care possible. This certification is awarded to practices and health systems that meet a comprehensive set of Oncology Medical Home (OMH) standards, developed by ASCO and Community Oncology Alliance (COA). These standards focus on patient engagement, evidence-based medicine, access to care, chemotherapy safety, and more.
“We are thrilled to announce this certification, which further demonstrates our continual commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered cancer care through ASCO Certified,” said OCSRI Executive Director Ruth Dunn, BSN, RN, OCN. “OCSRI is proud to be part of a program that places the highest priority on patient engagement, comprehensive team-based care and continuous quality improvement. This milestone reflects the hard work and passion of our entire team and reinforces our mission to provide exceptional care to our patients.”
While this certification is a significant achievement, our work doesn’t stop here. We will continue to collaborate with surveyors to review quality improvement initiatives, patient satisfaction surveys and oncology clinical pathways utilization. By closely monitoring key quality measures—such as advance care planning, depression screening, pain assessment and chemotherapy administration in the last 14 days of life—we aim to maintain our certification and continually enhance the care we provide.
“We believe the ASCO Certified program will support practices as they strive to deliver optimal care in the face of an evolving and challenging environment,” said ASCO CEO Clifford A. Hudis, MD, FACP, FASCO. “This program focuses on the most important stakeholders—the patients. It provides them with a medical home and empowers practices to embrace value-based care while enhancing quality.”
