Our commitment to support our patients throughout their fight with cancer has led Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute (OCSRI), formerly Tulsa Cancer Institute, and Stillwater Medical Center into a partnership which will expand oncology services in Stillwater as of October 1, 2016.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to help enhance and expand cancer services in Stillwater,” said Suanne Gersdorf, CEO at OCSRI. “Both teams have worked hard for months to ensure this agreement is mutually beneficially to everyone, especially our patients.”
OCSRI has entered into a management agreement where services will be overseen and managed by us to ensure that we continue to deliver the same excellent service and most comprehensive cancer care possible. Staff will become employed by Stillwater Medical Center at a wage and benefit level comparable to their present employment status and the physicians – Drs. Scott Cole, Jeffrey DeLo, and Nathan Uy – will also continue to provide medical care to their patients.
“We have visited with the staff and assured them of their employment future with SMC,” said Denise Webber, CEO at SMC. “They are valuable to the success of this transition and we appreciate the cooperation they have already extended to us. We are excited about this partnership and the new developments for our patients.”
We’re also excited that the existing facility will be expanded and blueprints show the expansion will add an additional 6,000 square feet to the facility. It will include additional exam rooms, infusion space, larger waiting area and a healing garden. During the renovation, chemotherapy treatment and the clinic will be relocated to physicians’ medical office building, while radiation will stay in the current building.
The number one priority for both OCSRI and SMC is to provide high quality cancer care to our patients. We are looking forward to a strong and long-lasting partnership with SMC. One that, we believe, will create a stronger, more comprehensive cancer treatment center for the Stillwater community.
