OCSRI Video Visits
OCSRI is now offering video visits to give you expert specialty care from the comfort of your home. All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer with audio and video capability. As part of our COVID-19 response, OCSRI is increasing video visit capabilities and providing additional ways for patients to connect remotely with their physicians and care teams.
If you are uncomfortable coming into our office for your follow-up or routine visit, please call our office and request your appointment be changed to a video visit appointment. Your request will be reviewed by your care team to determine eligibility.
What is a Video Visit?
A video visit is a safe and convenient way to get access to a broad spectrum of OCSRI specialists. During the COVID-19 emergency, OCSRI will be reviewing upcoming appointments to determine whether they are eligible for a video visit. If your appointment is eligible, you will be contacted by an OCSRI team member to discuss the possibility of moving to a video visit. We will need an email address, cell phone number and the name of the cellular service provider that will be used for the video visit.
Once a video visit is scheduled, you will receive a link to check in to your appointment via email and/or text message. To check into your video visit with your physician, you will click the link 20 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. Once you have checked in, you will be in the patient queue. Your care team member will join the video visit when it is time for your appointment.
What is a Virtual Check-In?
If you are eligible for a video visit but don’t have the necessary technology, your provider may be able to conduct the visit by telephone, if that is appropriate for your care. If you are eligible for a visit by telephone, a member of your care team will contact you using the phone number provided when your visit was scheduled.
What Should I Expect with a Video Visit?
- A video visit appointment is scheduled by a member of your care team.
- Instructions are received ahead of the visit via email and/or text message.
- 20 minutes prior to your scheduled video visit, you may check in to your visit on a computer or laptop (via Chrome, Safari 11+ or Firefox), smartphone (iOS, Android) or tablet (a camera and microphone on your device are required, and both must be enabled in your device’s settings).
- Once the visit begins a member of your care team will confirm personal information, including medications and allergies.
